March 2015. I’m sure there’s a news provider out there that carried this story, I hunted for it, if it’s been carried I’ll have it on one of the drives. There’s tons of the attack on social media but way too graphic. All I could find is a small mention of the funeral. I’m highlighting here the limited news coverage as much as highlighting the actual event. A 27 year old woman was attacked in Kabul with stones and sticks by “hundreds of locals and passersby”. She was then lynched and her body set on fire. Farkhunda apparently had mental health issues and was accused of burning a copy of the Koran though the police admit she was Innocent. She was then guilty of simply having a mental health issue. I guess I’m not going to Afghanistan cause I’d be next.
