February 2020. The office of the Victims’ Commissioner for England and Wales is an organization of the Government. The role of the Victims’ Commissioner is to promote the interests of victims and witnesses of crime, encourage good practice in their treatment, and regularly review the Code of Practice for Victims which sets out the services victims can expect to receive. The current Commissioner (appointed in May 2019, in office from mid-June) is Vera Baird. She’s interviewed here on Channel 4 and I have to say there’s a Glaring Failure in what she’s saying if she’s trying to promote the interests of the victims. Talking about the Rotherham Muslim Grooming Horrors, she says “…the Police were not looking” But, oh Yes they bloody were! They Chose Not to See. They were Told not to See! And until that Chestnut is Cracked, Nothing will Change. It’s all been Political.
