Aug 2021. Trans NHS Ward Policies

It’s been reported that NHS Trusts across the country have issued guidance to hospitals that says patients should be admitted based on the gender they identify with. This means they can choose which ward, lavatory and shower facilities they use. The result of this is that men who identify as women and who have been convicted of sex offences, can be placed on female wards. Three hospitals (Devon, Oxford and Nottinghamshire) have told staff that a criminal history should be part of a risk assessment when placing male-born people on female-only wards.
