Those who argue that Islam is fundamentally a threat to the West highlight certain things. For one, they continue to argue that, quite separately from debates about scripture, the majority of Muslims worldwide hold fundamentally illiberal beliefs, such as a powerful opposition to homosexuality. Second, they argue that Islamic scripture itself, derived from the Quran and Hadith, is a direct source of these illiberal beliefs, and is an inescapable part of the faith.
