On 3 June, Mr Chauvin was charged with second-degree murder, and the three other officers at the scene – Thomas Lane, J Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao – were charged for the first time with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. On Wednesday the Star Wars actor John Boyega joined thousands of protestors in a march from Hyde Park in central London organised by the anti-racist campaign group Black Lives Matter, with protestors chanting “no justice, no peace” as they took part. Most of the protestors were aged under 30 and carried handmade signs, calling out names of Mr Floyd and others in the UK such as Mark Duggan, who died at the hands of police, or victims of racial injustice including the murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence. The Black Lives Matter thing is a bit of a mystery in that most of the people of colour that are killed are killed by people of colour. And their Demands have moved on to wanting to change the nature of our society and culture. Can’t be allowed to happen.
