God never decreed in the Koran that slaughtering is the only lawful method to kill an animal. Further Prohibited Animals, listed in 5:3, are those strangled, struck with an object, fallen from a height, gored, attacked by a wild animal, unless the animal is saved before it dies. Also prohibited are animals sacrificed on altars.
