On Tuesday hundreds of people gathered outside St George’s Hall in Liverpool, and according to Black Lives Matter organisers in London, the upcoming demonstrations are expected to be the largest ever seen by the movement in the UK. On Saturday 6 June, people will gather at Parliament Square from 1pm in “peaceful protests against police brutality in the UK and US”, and are advised to wear face masks and be socially distant. Similarly on Sunday 7 June, a protest at 2pm near the US Embassy in London calls for “justice for the multiple black people who have been killed and harmed by the police.” In Birmingham, a protest has been set for Thursday 4 June, starting at Victoria Square. In Manchester, demonstrators will meet in Piccadilly Gardens, in the city centre, to show their opposition from 1pm on Saturday 6 June. It’s a concerted effort to destroy everything that we have, people are starting to wake up to the power grab that’s going on. Our Progressive Police need to grow a pair and start doing their job.
