January 2020. A serial rapist, thought to be Britain’s most prolific, has been jailed for life after being convicted of offences against 48 men. Reynhard Sinaga, 36, was found guilty of luring men outside Manchester clubs to his flat, where he filmed himself sexually violating them while they were unconscious. Police have linked Sinaga, who must serve a minimum of 30 years in jail, to more than 190 potential victims. The court heard how he went out in the early hours of the morning, looking for drunk young men who were alone around nightclubs near his flat. Sinaga, a slight-built Indonesian student, posed as a Good Samaritan who offered the men a place to sleep or more drink, the court heard. Judge Suzanne Goddard QC described him as a “evil serial sexual predator” who had preyed on young men who were hoping to enjoy a night-out with friends. “One of your victims described you as a monster. The scale and enormity of your offending confirms this as an accurate description,” Ms Goddard said. His victims – who were mainly heterosexual – had little or no memory of the assaults, which were filmed on Sinaga’s mobile phone, and they later left the flat unaware they had been violated. Sinaga was caught after one of his victims regained consciousness and fought him off, before taking his phone to the police.
